Study of a Horse Named Leike

"In the summer of 2019 I was invited to ranch-sit for two months on The Big Island of Hawaii. My responsibility was to care for fifteen animals: ten goats, two dogs, one cat, a horse and a baby boar. I adored the elderly horse, his name was Leike. Each morning when I awoke I would go out back to the green field, and call his name. Both he and Peaches, the baby boar, would come running on the path down the length of the house, toward their feeding area for breakfast. Sometimes Leike would beat Peaches while other times Peaches would get there first. Leike and Peaches, were buddies. They gave each other especially at night when Peaches would sleep in a dugged-out burrow next to Leike.."
