My                                                                                           intention was to learn to paint like                                                                                           the old masters. I selected  “Supper                                                                                       at Emmaus,” 1606, 141 cm × 175                                                                                             cm/56 in. x 69 in., by Caravaggio                                                                                             because of his use of chiaroscuro                                                                                           (contrast of light and dark.) It took                                                                                            me three months to complete.  I                                                                                              utilized the same method as                                                                                                    Caravaggio, using imprimatura                                                                                                (underpainting), cartoon with ink,                                                                                            pencil, tempera, oil, glaze.
